JOB OVERVIEW
As one of the oldest medical schools in the country, the UC College of Medicine has a reputation for training best-in-class health care professionals and developing cutting-edge procedures and research that improves the health and clinical care of patients.

A full time Research Assistant position is available in the Research Department of Hoxworth Blood Center at **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW*** College of Medicine.  The candidate will assist in the execution of SOP-driven research projects in pre-clinical and clinical trials in transfusion medicine and/or cell therapies. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
*Perform experiments and records data according to research protocols. *Perform testing for red blood cell (RBC), plasma and platelet studies within the requirements/framework of SOP driven research and/or GLP. *Perform phlebotomy (including whole blood and apheresis collections) on research subjects.  *Perform routine and preventative maintenance on laboratory equipment. *Maintain records of laboratory inventory and place orders in order to keep the laboratory well stocked with supplies and reagents. *Interpret data and assist in judging validity of data. May perform statistical and graphical analysis of data. *Maintain accurate and detailed records of all laboratory testing and experiments. Analyze data, perform statistical and graphical analysis of data, and interpret results. Author material for reports, journal articles, and abstracts. *Apply research principals for less complex assignments. *Perform related duties based on departmental need. REQUIRED EDUCATION
*Bachelor's Degree. *Five (5) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
Expertise in regulated research, i.e. SOP-driven, GLP and/or CLIA certified environment is a plus. Applicant with previous experience in red blood cell, platelet function, flow cytometry, immunology and/or coagulation studies, and phlebotomy skills
