JOB OVERVIEW
The Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine is seeking a candidate for a Research Assistant within a well-funded laboratory at the Center for Lipid and Atherosclerosis Studies (CLAS) at **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW*** Metabolic Diseases Institute in the College of Medicine. The candidate will join a dynamic team that uses diverse approaches to study structure/function relationships and the cell biology of lipoprotein metabolism.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
*Develop and perform recombinant protein expression and purification strategies including preparing recombinant proteins from bacterial and mammalian cells. *Maintain responsibility for purifying apolipoproteins from human plasma by established protocols.   *Perform experiments and records data according to research protocols. *Interpret data and assist in judging validity of data. May perform statistical and graphical analysis of data. *Apply research principals for less complex assignments. *Perform related duties based on departmental need. REQUIRED EDUCATION
*  ↵Bachelor's Degree in a related scientific field (e.g., biology, biochemistry, chemistry, pharmacology, molecular biology, or allied subjects). *Five (5) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS CONSIDERED
*Experience working in a medical setting and/or laboratory is preferred. Some clinical knowledge desired for reviewing medical records.  *Additional related work experience in molecular and cell biology, histology, and/or tissue processing techniques. 
 
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
*Office environment/no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.
