General Description of Position:
The Program Assistant is a part-time, temporary position designed to provide program-specific administrative assistance, and outreach support for one or more program and/or departments chairs. Based on programmatic need, this position will be hired on a semester-to-semester basis. The Program Assistant will report to the program/department Chair or Dean.
Major Responsibilities:
Coordinate all academic activities with the Program Chair.
Neat and accurate typing of tests, course outlines, letters, forms, documents, etc.
Arrange appointments for Program Chair.
Receive all incoming calls, take messages, arrange appointments, set up meetings, and make reservations. Maintain bookkeeping responsibilities, inventory control of equipment and supplies.
Responsible for duplication and collation of tests, syllabi, forms, etc.
Maintain communications between the academic areas and other departments of the College.
Coordinate and /or work with Student Affairs and Finance Office staff on matters involving students and faculty in these departments.
Participate in the College’s registration process in coordination with advising and program/department chair:

A. Utilize the Banner System for the registration process.
B. Assist with verification, accuracy, and completeness of registration forms.
Reports directly to the academic program/department Chair or Dean.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must have office administration/secretarial skills.
Type proficiently. Have the ability to utilize the following software: Microsoft Word-Excel-Access-PowerPoint.
Must be skilled in English, grammar, spelling, telephone techniques, bookkeeping and problem solving.
Must have pleasant disposition, good attitude, and ability to get along with others.
Must be a self-starter, well organized, capable of mature judgment, and able to work independently.
Willingness to update skills as necessary.
Position requires sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of the College students and employees.
Fully supports the College’s mission and strategic plan initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate's degree (appropriate for program serving) preferred.
Data entry experience desired.
Other Requirements:
Selected candidate for employment will be subject to pre-employment background checks, including criminal history check, and any offer of employment will be contingent upon that outcome.
Work Hours:
20 hours per week, primarily daytime hours although some evening and weekends may be needed for special events or peak enrollment periods.
Hiring Range:
$20.00/hour
