Assistant Director of Financial Aid

General Description of Position:
The Assistant Director is responsible for providing general financial aid counseling, maintaining financial aid compliance for award packaging; reviewing academic progress and special circumstance appeals as well as other related financial aid functions. This position performs FAFSA verification and determines aid eligibility. The position has program oversight responsibility for programs such as Federal Work Study, Scholarships, or Veterans Education Benefits. This position includes outreach and public speaking opportunities.
Major Responsibilities:
Student Advocacy and Customer Service
• Provide strong customer service and/or student advocacy as demonstrated through a positive attitude of approachability, adaptability, strong problem solving and desire to identify and support student success.
• Provide Tier 2 Escalation services for financial aid support staff, faculty and other College personnel. Respond to help tickets sent by Ivy Tech call center
• Provide both individual and group counseling regarding availability of financial assistance, explain the application process and assist with the completing of applications
• Work with Student Development to insure participation in orientations and other outreach activities.
Leadership and Administration
• Work with the Director to create an efficient and effective financial aid delivery system that ensures
accuracy, accountability and consistency of services for all students seeking financial aid.
• Package financial aid awards, process applications and other materials related to financial assistance
• Remain up-to-date and current with federal, state and institutional regulations and laws.
• Participate in at least one statewide financial aid sub-committee
Technical Support/Usage
• Maintain and update financial aid data on Banner
• Manage scholarship software
• Respond to internal request for data and reports.

Minimum Qualifications:
Associate Degree
Experience with customer/student information systems,
Demonstrated commitment to working on a team, strong work ethic, and excellent customer service and communication skills
High degree of professionalism
Excellent written and verbal communications
Demonstrates a high commitment to quality
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree preferred.
