General Description of Position:
We seek a
full-time
Software Development Instructor
to join our School of Information Technology. The faculty's responsibilities will be centered around instruction, student success, professional development, community service, and institutional support per the college loading policy, course objectives, and program learning outcomes.
You will report to the Department Chair and be appraised on how well you perform your responsibilities. You will work with the faculty, staff, and leadership throughout the college to ensure the success of your campus and the School of IT.
Major Responsibilities:
Instruction
Provide quality instruction in all modalities using pedagogy and technology that best supports student learning and engagement.
Develop and maintain course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, projects, and assessments.
Maintain a high-quality environment in the classroom and lab, effectively managing equipment, supplies, inventory, and budgets.
Hold office hours and provide timely and meaningful feedback to students.
Keep student records, attendance, grades, and other documentation as required.
Student Success
Partner with academic advising to provide academic coaching and mentoring to students.
Support retention and completion efforts by connecting students to tutoring, disability support services, student life, testing center, IvyCares, scholarships, and other college resources.
Collaborate with marketing and enrollment services for student outreach and recruitment.
Team up with K-14 initiatives to develop secondary and post-secondary linkages.
Rally with Ivy CareerLink to help with student job placements and alumni activities.
Professional Development
Stay current with modern pedagogy, teaching practices, digital technology, and other tools.
Enroll in training programs and scholarly activities to skill up or earn industry certifications.
Attend industry, community, faculty, and student events to increase networking.
Participate in professional societies, organizations, or clubs relevant to your field.
Attend workshops, seminars, conferences, and summits to learn teaching best practices.
Institutional Support
Participate in the curriculum committee meetings to recommend program and course changes.
Facilitate an advisory board to engage with community, industry, and educational partners.
Participate on committees for faculty hiring, program accreditations, grant development, grant management, event management, marketing campaigns, and alumni engagement.
Volunteer for statewide lead chair or vice chair roles in a curriculum committee.
Support the college’s mission, vision, and strategic plan.

Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree or higher in information technology, information systems, software development, computer science, cybersecurity, or a computer-related field. -or-
An out-of-field master’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in information technology, information systems, software development, computer science, cybersecurity, or a computer-related field with documentation in two or more of the following:

IT Industry certification
Two years of relevant professional experience
Documented evidence of teaching excellence, including the date of the award
Documentation of research and publication in the field
Documented relevant additional coursework beyond the bachelor’s degree, equivalent to 18 semester hours or equivalent subject matter coursework, CEUs, vendor, or military.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to utilize effective teaching strategies to stimulate student interest in the subject matter.
Clear, consistent, and organized communication with students on all platforms.
Patient, open-minded, understanding, objective, and empathetic toward students and staff.
Ability to collaborate with other faculty members and departments on cross-functional projects.
Excellent analytical , critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Other Requirements:
Work Hours:
Varies based on program needs.
Hiring Range:
$50,000 - $68,000 annually, based on qualifications.
