PT TEMPORARY Support - Information Center Receptionist
Elkhart, IN Work type: Part Time Hourly - Temporary Location: Elkhart, IN Categories: Office/Clerical General Description of Position: The Information Center staff greets all visitors in-person at the information desk, answers basic questions, provides general direction and enters them into queuing system to be seen by staff members. This position also answers phone calls and conducts other general clerical assignments. This position provides welcoming hospitality for the campus. Major Responsibilities: Provide general information about the campus. Assist with all special projects and mailings, as well as provide filing, data entry, telephone and clerical assistance for the various departments. Read and understand forms for all departments and provide proper forms to customers. Compile information packets and mail as requested by the Admissions office. Greet visitors and students, clarify and answer general questions, and/or enter student into queuing system to be assisted by team members. Direct students to the correct location or refer to team members. Distribute general college and Enrollment Center information (e.g., catalogs/program brochures/course descriptions and forms) to students and visitors. Collect, date-stamp and scans student forms for back office/processing support. Function effectively in a team environment. Maintain working knowledge of emergency/safety procedures as provided by supervisor. Be knowledgeable of the locations of the electronic and hard copy of procedures when applicable in order to deliver information as needed to customers. Conduct all activities within the established guidelines of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). This is not to be construed as an exhaustive list. Other duties logically associated with this position may be assigned. All responsibilities will be conducted within the parameters of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), other applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards. Minimum Qualifications: Minimum high school diploma, GED, or equivalent required. Preferred Qualifications: Prefer at least two years of direct experience in one or more of the following: registration, records, financial aid, admissions, or higher education. Demonstrated leadership qualities preferred. Other Requirements: Selected candidate for employment will be subject to pre-employment background checks, including criminal history check, and any offer of employment will be contingent upon that outcome. Position requires sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of the College students and employees. Work Hours: 20-25 HRS Wk.
