Director of Financial Aid
Elkhart, IN Work type: Full Time Administrative Location: South Bend/Elkhart, IN, Systems Office - Indianapolis, IN Categories: Administrative/Professional General Description of Position: Under the direction of the Executive Director of Student Financial Aid and Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs, the Director of Financial Aid will lead the financial aid and veterans’ affairs operation at the South Bend/Elkhart Ivy Tech Community College Campus. Major Responsibilities: Directs and manages key financial aid and veterans’ affairs processes at the South Bend/Elkhart campus: Lead efforts on campus to assist students with filing their FAFSA, resolving financial aid issues, completing verification, and getting into a paid status before the start of classes. Support veteran students with their educational benefits and oversee the Veterans Resource Center. Administer and fully utilize federal campus-based aid programs, including the Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant and the Federal Work-Study Program. Administer scholarships and institutional aid, including the Ivy Tech Grant and the Ivy Tech Scholarship, and organize campus scholarship committees. Review emergency aid requests in conjunction with other campus offices. Organize and serve on the campus Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) appeals committees. Manage the campus special circumstances review process. Conduct financial aid outreach to current Ivy Tech students and prospective Ivy Tech students in the local community. Establish effective relationships with key campus personnel and work closely with campus enrollment services and student success staff members. Coordinate efforts with the Financial Aid and Veterans Affairs processing centers. This is not to be construed as an exhaustive list. All responsibilities will be conducted within the parameters of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), other applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards. SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Executive Director of Student Financial Aid (direct report), Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs (dotted line) SUPERVISION GIVEN: Assistant Directors of Financial Aid x 3 Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required. Three or more years’ experience administering financial aid programs. Must demonstrate ability to build and maintain strong, authentic relationships. Strong organizational skills and superior attention to detail required. Proven success simultaneously managing multiple projects and initiatives required.
