General Description of Position:
The Lilly Career Coach provides career coaching services to assist students in completing their Career Development Portfolio and increase the enrollment of apprenticeships for Lilly. This position manages the Skills First Program expansion designed to boost enrollment, retention, completion, employment, and socioeconomic outcomes for underrepresented students at Ivy Tech. Reporting to the campus Director of Career Coaching & Special Project, the coach will work collaboratively with Ivy Tech and Lilly teams to create and implement program strategy.
Major Responsibilities:
Coaches and tracks progress of students in implementing their CDP in one to one and group coaching scenarios. Actions taken by students, under the guidance of the Career Coach, will include, but are not limited to the student completing a resume, LinkedIn profile, mock interviews, employer engagement, professional development training/workshops and placement.
The Lilly Career Coach will continually monitor enrollment rates through Ivy Tech's databases and enrollment in Lilly apprenticeships. The Lilly Career Coach will continually monitor retention rates of program participants through Ivy Tech's student database and individual follow-up with students.
Increase enrollment in apprenticeships and assist Lilly reach its overall goal of increasing diversity in its workforce from 10% to 13%.
The Lilly Career Coach will track participation in educational programs, courses completed, and credentials earned through Ivy Tech's databases. The Lilly Career Coach will track job placement and wage outcomes of program participants through individual surveys and follow-up communication.
Leads efforts to build awareness of career coaching opportunities at campuses including, but not limited to building of student CDPs, career exploration, job search tools, work-and-learn and career placement. Partners with aligned campus stakeholders to promote a career development culture on the campus at large.
The Lilly career coach will engage with students early and often to provide career services and support to prepare them for Lilly apprenticeships, including completing a Career Development Portfolio (CDP), a collection of tools and mandatory tasks aligned with best practice strategies and designed to lead to positive career outcomes.
The coach will also link students to wraparound support as needed through community partners and IvyCARES, an Ivy Tech program that provides free mental health counseling, food pantry, and emergency financial assistance.
Develops and reports on lead indicators and results connected to CDP participation including frequency of one to one and group sessions, CDP milestone completion, and other pertinent data. Remains current on employment trends and matches those with program opportunities. Develops strategies to track impacts of career coaching on student development and attain campus metrics on student employment outcomes; recommends strategies to improve students’ outcomes.
Oversees portals used by students related to career awareness and exploration, and student career case management. Develops deep understanding and appreciation of student career coaching best practices including core coaching competencies.
Participates in professional growth, development, and training programs related to career coaching.
Participates in weekly and monthly meetings with campus Ivy Career Link team. Participates in related annual summits and/or retreats, as well as project-based work as deemed appropriate or necessary.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred.
A minimum of two (2) years related experience in career development and/or coaching along with case management and relationship management experience is required. Relationship management ensures strategy regarding partnership, loyalty, and retention on the student’s behalf, while case management is specific to the context of an individual’s career development case, including but not necessarily limited to assessment, planning and goal setting, preparation, exploration, and identifying steps toward launch goals.
Proficiency, familiarity, or certifications in standard career assessments such as: Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, Strong Interest Inventory, and Clifton StrengthsFinder preferred.
Must demonstrate ability to promote an inclusive environment that reflects the broad diversity and backgrounds represented by our students and employees and which every individual feels respected and valued.
Demonstrated skills and abilities to concurrently manage numerous tasks, some with conflicting priorities required.
Must have excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Commitment to student learning outcomes, staff development, and diversity required.
Must be able and willing to travel to and from campuses and professional development activities.
Ability to work within an entrepreneurial framework and scale a large project required.
