General Description of Position:
Plan within budgetary guidelines and execute purchasing procedures in compliance with college policies to supply food products and related supplies for the Hospitality Administration department. Coordination with departmental faculty and staff is required to make sure products are purchased in alignment with the educational goals and objectives of the Hospitality Administration department.

Responsibilities:
Requisition Purchase Orders (PO) for Hospitality Program using approved vendors which meet a standard of best price and best quality. Purchase products for Ivy Tech Community College Hospitality Lab classes, Lecture classes, Student engaged catering events, and Hospitality Departmental events and classes. Utilize the FIFO method of inventory storage for all product(s) received.
Manage flow of Lab Resource production in and out of the resource center with full time and part time Support Staff.
Coordinate program needs for classrooms and labs with faculty coordinators and Lab Resources to ensure correct items are ordered and inventoried to meet learning objectives. Retrieve and properly rotate or store for long-term any unused product.
Prepare Monthly Inventory Reports, General Ledger Reports, S&E cost analysis, part time Labor Reports, manage Revenue Accounts, work with Department Chair and Assistant Department Chair to determine classroom engagement of student participation of internal and external events.
Hire and supervise temporary part time student/staff and/or work study positions to work in production (café kitchen/catering kitchen/restaurant kitchen), receiving, and front of house operations (café barista, catering event coordinator, and restaurant service staff). Oversee Assistant Director of Hospitality Operations.
Create an educational environment for student/employee success through hands on training, mentoring programs with faculty and administrative staff, and creating learning opportunities for student staff to learn and grow in their respective fields of study.
Manage classroom operations for student and faculty success. Ensure working order of equipment, small-wares inventory, cleanliness of labs, food production carts are delivered and built correctly, supervise/mentor lab assistants to ensure positive development for successfully classroom functions. Monitor lab equipment for cleanliness, sanitation, OSHA compliant, and functionality, reporting equipment failures quickly.
Develop and continue Ivy Tech Community College Hospitality programs in gardening, vendor sponsorship, composting program, green/waste policy, sustainable practices in ordering, and student engaged clubs to benefit our students and community. Support and develop environmental sustaining initiatives in compliance with accreditation standards. Cultivate Vendor relationships with sponsorships of Labs and Departmental activities in conjunction with Campus Development Office.
Investigate inventory needs based on course objectives for Lab, Lecture, and Production classes. Utilize and develop computer programs to maintain par levels, ordering, and receiving processes.

Purchase products for Ivy Tech Community College Hospitality Lab classes, Lecture classes, Student engaged catering events, and Hospitality Departmental events and classes. Updating computer inventory system with most current pricing information.
Provide resources for classes as determined by faculty that meets financial and learning objectives. Meet with the Hospitality Administration faculty to discuss any ordering processes or concerns throughout the academic year.
Prepare financial reports on Supplies and Equipment, Labor costs/hours, revenue centers, budget analysis Actual v Theory, and comparison reports versus last two fiscal years to develop and trend to use as a forecast for future ordering and requisitions on 8 week semester cycles. Forecast expenses, budget, and requisition purchase orders for Lab and Lecture classes.
Ensure staff, students, and faculty are following green policy initiatives in order to achieve desired zero waste goals.
Work with students and faculty to engage and support student clubs and ambassador extracurricular activities are being supported.

Minimum Qualifications:
Culinary Arts skills demonstrated by the completion of an Associates degree in Hospitality Administration and industry related certification along with four (4) years related work experience.
ServSafe certificate or comparable designation required.
Minimum three years work experience in the hospitality industry.
Must be highly motivated and possess demonstrated planning and organizational skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
Basic computer knowledge (including Word, Excel, and Outlook).
Be able to exert well-paced mobility for periods of up to six hours in length and have the ability to lift 10 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
Experience with the purchasing function in the hospitality industry.
Food Service software experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrate considerable patience and diplomacy.
Be able to handle difficult situation to reach positive solutions.
Work on own initiative.
Other Requirements:
Staff and faculty in the program will be given preference.
