General Purpose and Scope of Position
The Vice Chancellor & Campus Operating Officer reports directly the Chancellor and handles a wide range of matters of campus importance on behalf of the Chancellor including management of staff, budgets, administration, and procedures. Provides coordination and oversight for the affiliated sites. Provides coordination and oversight in the development of defined core initiatives for Ivy Tech Community College-Indianapolis.
The Vice Chancellor and Campus Operating Officer will be a member of the Chancellor’s cabinet with the purpose of providing leadership that aligns with the College’s core values and implement strategies in order to meet the needs of a diverse community and student body on campus. This position promotes diversity, integrity, community engagement, innovatin and excellence; is accountable to perform statewide responsibilities to maintain consistent statewide curricula, policies, and practices. This position will work closely with the Chancellor to establish strategies coordinated with statewide efforts in key areas of focus (recruitment, enrollment, completion, retention, workforce, and student success).
Major Responsibilities:
Serves as the principal management support to the Chancellor in handling a range of operational matters related to the campus service area, staff, and student issues; directly handles matters of institutional importance on behalf of the Chancellor, as appropriate.
Oversees all facets of the daily operations of the campus and develops findings to make recommendations to the Chancellor to ensure compliance with all relevant national, state, and local policies and regulations.
Coordinates and integrates the activities of the Chancellor’s Cabinet in the development and implementation of established core initiatives for the Chancellor.
Coordinates and integrates the activities of the affiliated Sites with the operation of the primary campus.
Recommends, establishes, and maintains an effective organization structure and staffing to accomplish the organization’s goals and objectives.
Provides leadership in the collaboration of staff to facilitate planning sessions that will identify critical issues and problems, suggest, and recommends options, develop consensus on appropriate alternatives, and works with staff to implement improved recommendations.
Coordinates Campus and Service Area special projects on behalf of the Chancellor utilizing honesty, integrity, and good judgement to foster beneficial and innovated change. Participates with the Chancellor and other statewide leaders in institutional planning, policy development, and problem resolution.
As A Member of The Chancellor's Cabinet
Assures assessment of functional area needs, investigates, and develops alternative strategies, establishes priorities and goals, recommends implementation activities, and evaluates progress.
Serving as a model for strong leadership, develops and supports the Campus culture of team collaboration and commitment to deliver high quality services and outcomes, by being student- and employee-centered.
Builds and sustained a process-managed origination and culture that delivers measurable value of the organization targeting efficiency and cost optimization in functional areas.
Collaborates with other cabinet members to implement the College strategic plan across the campus service area. Executes strategic initiatives and resource allocation at local levels to achieve college-wide and campus-level metrics.
Creates and maintains an environment where planning, development, and delivery of services for students occur in a creative and effective manner that fosters cultural and global awareness.
Act during Chancellor’s absence, use initiative and judgment to delegate authority or handle in a manner as to minimize effect of Chancellor’s absence.

Education and Expreience Required:
Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in student personnel, counseling, adult or higher education, or related discipline is required.
Minimum of five years’ experience in higher education at accredited institution required.
Must be adept at resolving individual and group conflict, must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
Proven ability to identify key issues and to carry forward an idea or project from conception to execution.
Track record of thinking conceptually and mastering complex subject matter quickly.
Good judgement, discretion, tact, and the ability to work easily with senior leaders within the higher education, charitable, government, and business sectors.
Ability to partner well with colleagues both in and outside of the organization.
Ability to promote an inclusive environment that reflects the broad diversity and backgrounds represented by our students, and employees and which every individual feels respected and valued.
