General Description of Position:
The Assistant Director of Procurement is responsible for acquiring goods and services according to College procurement policies. Responsible for purchasing functions for supplies, equipment, and service purchases, including acquiring vendor quotes and bids according to purchasing guidelines. This position will support all campus purchasing activities, including collaboration with campus and systems office financial operations.
Major Responsibilities:
Responsible for placement of orders.
Facilitation of processes to establish new vendors for the College.
Act as the college’s representative when working with vendors and contractors.
Complete Requests for Proposal (RFP) to acquire pricing.
Establish and negotiate supplier agreements for goods and services.
Initiate approval process for contracts and service agreements.
Identify opportunities to improve value from service providers and suppliers.
Support strategy covering all services and supplier processes to maximize value and outcomes.
Collaborate with departmental and campus leadership in budgetary preparation and purchasing.
Serve as a representative of the college with vendors and contractors.
Solve problems with a focus on teamwork and customer service.
Purchase order tracking
Provides purchasing support on all Furniture, Fixtures, and Equipment (FFE) for Projects and College needs.
Oversees Shipping and Receiving:
Coordinates small and large delivery schedules with the shipping/receiving team and end user.
prepares new hire packets for Procurement and Project Management Department
Manages the WITS tracking software
Manages the inventory of the mailroom/copy center

Supervises purchasing assistant and copy center/shipping team.
Coordinates “work tickets” assignments for supporting department staff.
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate’s degree
3 years of experience in a purchasing role
Must be willing to travel locally to all buildings in the service area
Must be detail oriented and able to communicate efficiently and effectively with staff, students, faculty, and leadership.
Ability to work with diverse community groups
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
Experience working in an academic or state organization.
Industry-related training and certifications.
Project management and planning experience or training
