General Description of Position:
Perform all of the essential functions as identified below. Provide supervision and coordination of front office support in the dental hygiene clinic. Individual will assist with the daily business activities within the dental hygiene clinic to include, but not limited to, answering the phone, scheduling appointments for patients, greeting patients, maintaining patient data base and cultivating patient relationships, tracking inventory, maintaining patient records, management of accounts receivable, processing of clinical and financial reports, and coordination of daily schedule on business side of the clinic. Provide educational instruction to dental students in the areas of dental clinical and administrative duties. Fully supports the College’s mission and strategic plan initiatives.
Major Responsibilities:
Coordinate and oversee daily activities in business area of clinic and provide front office support to dental hygiene faculty and instruction to students.
Supervise dental hygiene students with scheduling of new patient appointments, re-care/recall system, printouts of patient radiographs, daily production reconciliation, and patient follow-up correspondence.
Maintain accurate accounts receivable and financial records including EOD and EOM reports and records of deposits made to Ivy Tech business office.
Utilize specialized clinic software (i.e; Dentrix, Eaglesoft) including creation and input of clinical service codes and implementation of procedural changes associated with periodic software updates.
Set up and help maintain inventory of items used in clinic.
Supervise daily, weekly, monthly, and annual maintenance of clinic.
Organize and maintain manuals associated with clinic equipment, hazardous materials, and SDS documents.
Carry out front office duties including answering the phone, scheduling appointments, collecting payments and providing professional customer service assistance to patients in the clinic.
Learn additional computer software as needed.
Meet with and counsel students regularly to discuss clinical difficulties/competencies.
Collect and maintain student competency/interpretation forms/grade documents, and attendance/punctuality information.
Provide supervision, guidance, and instruction on dental assisting and dental administration duties.

Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required.
Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, good math skills, computer skills, the ability to prioritize tasks, display extreme attention to details, maintain confidentiality, meet deadlines, and work with minimum supervision.
10 years Dental administrative and clinical experience required.
10 years of Clinical assisting experience.
Working knowledge of routine dental office operating procedures in a large clinic.
Experience in conflict management.
Knowledge of dental terminology and HIPAA.
Educational instruction experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate’s degree, one (1) year college technical certificate, or higher.
Certified Dental Assistant (CDA)
Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA/EDDA)
