General Description of Position:
This position is responsible for leading the annual financial audit, tax reporting, implementation of FASB standards, and overseeing the Foundation’s financial systems. Other primary areas of management include accounts payable, accounts receivable, procurement, and reconciliations.
Major Responsibilities:
Lead annual financial statement preparation, including development of statements, required notes, and supporting schedules and serve as the primary auditor liaison.
Ensure accurate recording of all cash receipts and daily bank deposits. Balance quarterly financial records with contribution records in the Foundation's contribution system.
Oversee requests for payment. Review for accuracy, account coding, budget categorization, and availability of funds. Resolve errors and inconsistencies with systems office and campus staff. Maintain necessary approvals and timely transmittal to vendors.
Manage monthly closing process, ensuring timely reconciliations and recording of journal entries. Validate and process inter-fund transfers as needed.
Collaborate with campus and systems office leadership to develop and improve financial processes, policies, and procedures.
Manage timely and accurate preparation of appropriate tax filings, including the annual form 990, required 1099 filings, and property tax exemption requests.
Lead the utilization and understanding of the accounting system with accurate and timely recording of data. Monitor user access levels to make sure proper security controls are in place.
Prepare financial reports for management and assist in preparation of annual budget.
Collaborate with advancement systems operations on data maintenance. Ensure proper internal control processes are in place for gift processing and data security.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required.
Minimum of 5 years of progressive fiscal management or auditing experience required, preferably in fund accounting or not-for-profit organizations.
Excellent communication (oral & written), planning, problem-solving, organizational, project management and customer service required.
Must consistently exercise independent judgement and discretion in matters of significance.
Must be able to problem solve and work effectively both independently and in a team environment.
