Indirect Tax Analyst
Oklahoma City, OK Req ID: 254321 BASIC PURPOSE: The primary purpose of this position is to be responsible for managing the Indirect Tax research function for Love's Travel Stop's & Affiliated Companies. Provides transactional tax planning and guidance to manager and internal and external customers. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: *Serve as a lead technical expert for the company on transactional tax issues. *Provide tax planning and guidance to Business Operations to minimize tax liability and maximize tax incentives. *Monitor and communicate business changes to Compliance which affect transactional Tax; ensure timely and proper reporting of changes. *Monitor, interpret and communicate tax legislation, regulations and rates. *Joint & overall responsibility for ensuring imposition of tax (timely, accurate, at correct point in transactional chain) *Responsibility for the research and interpretation of tax regulations and statutes and for maintaining current/accurate tax guides and multiple systems. *Assist with E&Y audit and other accounting requirements. *Work with other departments to ensure the company's tax responsibilities are effectively administered. *Measure research function and performance. *Build and maintain effective working relationships with tax authorities. *Other duties assigned as needed. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: *Education: *HS Diploma or equivalent required *Bachelor degree (accounting emphasis preferred) *MBA or CPA a plus *Experience: *3 yrs transactional multi state sales tax, excise tax and high level accounting experience strongly preferred *Prior involvement in complex reconciliation of multi record data and system implementation/administration preferred. SKILLS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS: *Skills: *Hard Skills: Microsoft Office Products (advanced excel). Knowledge of CCH, TTR, Avalara, SRA, Fuel Smart, transflo, Vertex, SAP. Detailed technical knowledge of tax regulations/practices and accounting. *Soft Skills: Strong verbal and oral communication skills; keen attention to detail; self motivated; ability to multi task; process thinker with a strong overall business acumen, interpersonal and leadership skills. *Typical Physical Demands: *Commonly requires 45 hour workweeks. *Possible evening/weekend work. *Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping. *Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds. *Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator. *Requires normal range of hearing and vision.
