Global Sourcing Intern (Summer 2022)
Oklahoma City, OK Req ID: 282497 LOVE'S COLLEGE INTERN PROGRAM The Love's college internship program is frequently referred to as the best in Oklahoma City. This rapidly growing program provides opportunities for students in multiple areas of the business to receive employee level experience, not just busy work. Students also gain valuable knowledge that they can't get in a classroom; they are guided through proper etiquette of a professional corporate setting. Over the course of the summer, Love's interns also participate in the following activities: *Tour of multiple business operations *Q&A sessions with executives *Participation in Greater Grads: InternOKC *Community volunteering activities *Social/Networking events *Classroom skills-based training *Mentor program *Structured performance feedback *Formal presentation to Love's leadership BASIC PURPOSE: The Global Sourcing Support Intern (GSS) position will support the Global Sourcing team as well as learn and participate in all aspects of the product development process. The process includes, but is not limited to product development/sourcing, overseas supplier communication, internal collaboration, and item creation and integrity. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT/SOURCING *Learn to identify products that have potential to be directly sourced by Love's *Learn and develop specifications for products *Understand and help develop product assortments, roadmap, competitive matrix, and pricing structure OVERSEAS SUPPLIER COMMUNICATION *Communicate with overseas partners about current and new products *Discuss lead times, cost negotiation, and product creation *Help hold suppliers accountable to timelines INTERNAL COLLABORATION *Work with the merchandising team to develop private label strategies inside of the current product assortments *Support global sourcing team on new marketing initiatives (packaging, branding, signage, etc.) *Opportunities to present new products and roadmaps to internal teams ITEM CREATION AND INTEGRITY *Assist in item creation, including product information, pricing, specifications, etc. into Love's SAP/Vendor Link systems *Confirm and verify information coming in from overseas partners *Other duties assigned as needed. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Education: *HS Diploma or equivalent required. *CURRENTLY ENROLLED IN A FOUR YEAR UNIVERSITY PROGRAM. *PREFERRED UNIVERSITY DEGREE: INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MAJOR OR RELATED EGREE Experience: *Experience in Retail preferred *Experience managing vendor relations a plus SKILLS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Skills: *Hard Skills: Knowledge of Microsoft Office *Soft Skills: Stable work history, good oral and verbal communications skills, team player, keen attention to detail, self-motivated, ability to work in a fast-paced environment and strong analytical skills Typical Physical Demands: *Scheduling flexibility *Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping. *Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds. *Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator. *Requires normal range of hearing and vision.
