Indirect Tax Analyst
Oklahoma City, OK Req ID: 281861 BASIC PURPOSE: The primary purpose of this position is to analyze, reconcile and pay indirect tax liabilities for the Love's Family of Companies. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: *Pay monthly, quarterly, and annual motor fuel excise and sales tax returns for taxing jurisdictions. *Reconcile motor fuel excise tax return to the general ledger for each period before filing to ensure accuracy. *Respond to notices and assist with audits from states. *Keep up to date on current state policies on taxation and be aware of any upcoming changes and filing procedures. *Amend prior returns to correct any past issues. *Create and maintain point sheets and desk reference procedures for each return or process. *Analyzes return and communicates trends of inconsistencies to Excise Tax Compliance Associate Supervisor. *Report updates that are needed for tax software to the Tax Technology department. *Assists Excise Tax Compliance Associate Supervisor with special projects. *Work with other departments within the company to resolve any tax reporting issues. *Assist Excise Tax Compliance Associate Supervisor.in writing policies and procedures related to compliance. *Train new analysts as assigned. *Other duties assigned as needed. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: *Education: *High School degree or equivalent required. *Bachelor's Degree in Accounting preferred. *Experience: * Experience in motor fuel excise tax, sales tax, accounting or reconciliation preferred. SKILLS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS: *Skills: *Hard Skills: Strong system skills, Microsoft Office Products, Avalara, SAP, Right Angle, AKORE *Soft Skills: Strong verbal and oral communication skills; keen attention to detail; self motivated; the ability to work closely with coworkers to resolve and correct tax issues *Typical Physical Demands: *Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping. *Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds. *Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator. *Requires normal range of hearing and vision.
