Successful candidates for this position will work in a technical support role for NSS programs in Dulles VA, in the Space Systems Group within Orbital ATK.

This Mission Systems Engineering role is an engineering support role on National Security Space (NSS) programs. The responsibilities will be as an individual-contributor, within a multi-disciplinary engineering team. Successful candidate will perform traditional Systems Engineering functions, such as requirements management, verification/validation, contribution to SE products, modeling and simulation support, system trades study support, systems analysis, technical budgets, interfaces definition and management, and proposal support.

In this role, the Mission Systems Engineer is expected to support SE Leads with the technical effort on complex systems. Candidates must be able to recognize and mitigate technical issues under guidance of more senior leaders, while operating within budget and on schedule.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide support to selected elements of the Program Engineering Team
- Support and deliver SE Products and other deliverables, with a focus on mission success
- Troubleshoot and develop solutions to Engineering problems
- Contribute to the technical management of program elements
- Support of technical reviews
- Writing status and technical performance reviews, analyses and reports

WRITTEN AND VERBAL COMMUNICATION
The candidate will work with cross-discipline team members and must have good written and oral communication skills; presentation experience is strongly preferred, as is the ability to work with a diverse community of engineers and managers to achieve the goals of the program team.

EDUCATION Candidate must have a Bachelors degree (or higher) in Aerospace Engineering or related Engineering field plus a minimum of four years of experience. Masters Degree in a technical discipline is preferred (in which case, 2 years of professional experience is required).

EXPERIENCE

Experience in Systems Engineering and integration of complex space/ground systems is strongly preferred.

Candidate Must Possess the Following Skills: - Ability to contribute to SE functions on complex systems. - Ability to develop, trade and analyze system attributes - Ability to develop and manage system interfaces
