Orbital ATK is currently seeking an experienced Material Planner to provide leadership to our Defense Electronics Systems team in our Northridge, CA offices.

Job Description

Coordinates purchase requisitions or orders based on program/manufacturing needs and existing inventory. Coordinates with other departments to ensure appropriate routing, scheduling, and availability of raw materials or components.

•Plan, issue and control material demands in order to meet production scheduling requirements;

•A leader in advising management of status of work in process, material availability and potential production problems to ensure that personnel, equipment, materials and services are provided as needed;

•Analyze inventory usages and scrap factors;

•Coordinate interdepartmental activity with Quality, Manufacturing Purchasing, Engineering, Receiving, and Contracts;

•Coordinate material movement between warehouse and production areas.

•Create Requisitions

•Coordinate sales order entries

•Troubleshoot system

•Coordinates timing of purchase, acceptance, and routing of materials based on program need.

•Ensures material quality for programs through inspection, analysis, and testing.

•Ensures materials are ready and available for programs.

•Controls excess, insufficient, or deficient materials. This may require working with the customer, Engineering, Program Manager, Buyers, Finance, suppliers, or other external vendors.

•Provides input, based on materials availability, to the Production Planner/Master Scheduler.

•Resolves basic to moderately complex materials issues for a program.

Qualifications

•4 or more years of experience in Material Planning preferably in a defense manufacturing environment

•4 Year Degree

•Strong and demonstrable understanding of MRP logic;

•Experience using scheduling tools; Deltek/Costpoint

•Strong verbal and written communication skills and excellent follow up;

•Technical skills required; Excel, MS Project, Power point, and Visual scheduling tools.

•Knows procurement and quality basics, engineering flows, and reading prints

•APICS certification preferred

•3-5 year's inventory or production experience
