Accounts Payable Specialist

As an Accounting Specialist at Jones Foster, here is what you will do:
You will lead all aspects of accounts payable including the processing and timely payment of firm expenses to vendors and employees.
On a daily basis, you will interact with an outstanding group of attorneys, paralegals, legal assistants, and other firm staff as you help them as they serve our clients.
You will make sure, on a day-to-day basis, that payables transactions are properly and consistently recorded to our finance systems.
You will be responsible for regularly reconciling the accounts payable ledger to ensure that all bills and payments are accounted for and properly posted.
You will establish and maintain relationships with new and existing vendors and their staff teams.
You will work directly with vendors and through vendor statements, invoices, and payments, you will ensure that payments are properly reflected, investigating discrepancies, if any.
Using transaction data, Excel, and other tools, you will regularly manage projects, analyses, and reports including weekly payment registers, annual 1099, W-9, and other vendor tax-related information.
You will also be cross-trained in other critical functions of our finance team, including cash reporting, billing and conflict checking.
We will have you handle other accounting duties, as needed.

Someone who wants to learn new skills, including our firm’s accounting software (Coyote Analytics), and who has the basics of Excel down.
Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercising discretion and good judgment.
Works well both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
An associate’s degree or equivalent experience.
Minimum three (3) years of experience within the professional services industry, including accounts payable.
Ability to work Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m.
Experience with a law firm is a plus.
