Senior Producer, CTV News Channel, Bell Media

CTV News Channel is growing its leadership team of journalists. We are looking to hire a dynamic, experienced Senior Producer who is excited about delivering the news to Canadians across multiple platforms, and thrives in an all-news 24-hour breaking news environment. Identifying news stories, generating enterprise news content, knowing how to element coverage, line up news flow, produce and execute news flow, news specials and news programs, writing quickly and accurately are essential to the job, as is strong news judgement. RESPONSBILITIES: • Identifying the news that resonates with Canadians, focusing on story motivators (money, safety, family, health, community) • Generating original story ideas for execution across multiple platforms • Playing integral role in daily story coverage and development with editorial news team • Coaching members of the editorial team, specifically direct reports • Writing to include but not exclusive to intros, voice overs, promos, etc • Vetting scripts, video, audio, and banners • Ensuring accuracy, consistency and adherence to CTV News standards of all material • Takes programming to air, either news flow, news specials or news shows • Monitors wires, social media, e-mail and all other outlets for news updates or story ideas • Participates in news editorial meetings • Keeps on top of news broadcasting trends QUALIFICATIONS: • Degree in Journalism • Excellent skills as a live control room producer • Experience in managing news coverage • Experience in developing and structuring live news coverage • Experience in vetting scripts • Superior broadcast writing skills as well as knowledge of digital writing • Excellent knowledge of news and current affairs • Must have excellent command of the English language • Excellent decision-making and organizational skills, ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet strict deadlines while maintaining strong editorial judgement and creativity • Excellent communication skills - oral and written Bilingualism is an asset (English and French); adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
