Job Description:

The Operations Support Team is responsible for the end to end settlement activity for the Crude Trading business. The Operations Support Analyst is responsible for the resolution of volumetric and pricing issues that arise during the settlement process. This will involve daily communications with Customers, Traders, Lease, and Inventory as well as detailed analysis and interpretation of volume allocations and revisions, understanding contracts, and complex contractual pricing components. It is essential for the analyst to exercise good business judgment and to make prudent business decisions in order to resolve any disputes with customers in a timely manner.

The successful candidate must be an effective communicator and must show the initiative and motivation necessary to complete job functions.

The Operations Support Analyst must be able to interpret crude trading contracts; which involves the detailed analysis of crude oil purchases and sales with Shell Affiliates and third parties, understand pipeline logistics. Duties include resolving any volumetric or pricing issues to the net settling of all domestic and international crude oil sales and purchases, pipeline and trucking contracts.

This role can be measured through the following accountabilities:

Ensure transactions are strictly governed by contracts including related crude oil provisions such as differentials, gravity penalties, and allocations.
Ability to understand contractual components, including complex pricing deals and quality banks as well as pipeline systems.
Understanding the analysis of allocated volumes and revisions to ensure data integrity.
Analysis and verification of complex accounting deals, quarterly quality bank statements, and pipeline statements.
Analysis/research of unsettled items in both Endur and TSAP.
Pursue collection with counterparty for disputed outstanding receivables and analysis of payable open line items with customer.
Interaction with internal (schedulers, contract admin, traders, lease analysts, etc) and external (third party) customers.
Operates in compliance with all documented SOX controls.

Requirements:

Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
Bachelors Degree preferred.
Previous exposure to a fast paced, high energy and demanding trading environment is an asset.
Ability to work autonomously, with minimal supervision.
Must demonstrate leadership experience and attributes to be able to Motivate, Coach and Develop others on areas of expertise.
Must possess strong interpersonal and team building capabilities.
Must have the ability to work well under pressure and have proficiency for detail and meeting deadlines.
Must have systems knowledge or a strong learning aptitude for new systems in business related applications and tools.
Preferred systems skills: OLE/Endur, SalesForce, TSAP, MS Office Suite of Products (Excel and Access) and Qlikview.
Trading and Commercial Business Understanding.
Accounting and Trading Finance Controls.
Contracts and Legal Framework skills.
Communication and Relationship Building.

Special Challenges

Volume associated with the Lease Crude business is based on 9200 active leases & approx 18 million barrels of crude oil per month, creating complex logistics issues.
Must be able to prioritize workload in order to meet deadlines and requirements. Should understand related roles in the organization, including Inventory, Ticketing and Lease and will be required to understand the end to end Crude business.
A high degree of organization and time management skills with the ability to manage a high volume of complex data are required.
Attention to details is necessary to ensure proper accounting treatment. Must be proactive in following up with stakeholders and be able to understand the escalation process.
Familiarity with contract language and details is necessary .
Willingness to actively learn different technical systems is required.
