CLASSIFICATION SPECIFICATION

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Individual positions may be responsible for some of all of the listed duties and/or other related duties
Perform repair/maintenance of all facilities property, buildings, and grounds; ie. Plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, structural, electrical and painting
Troubleshoot equipment failures to determine cause of malfunction and provide recommendation for repair or replacement.
Ensure all equipment is in compliance with EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) standards.
Direct, monitor, and provide guidance to Facilities Maintenance Technicians and Assistants
Maintain life safety equipment per required inspection and timeline codes/standards.
Maintain an inventory system of parts, equipment, and repair work
Continue professional growth through coursework and training sessions.

KNOWLEDGE OF:

Policies, procedures, and programs of the immediate work unit.
Principles and practices of administration and management.
Agency or program rules, regulations, and operating procedures.
Installation/repair of heating systems, cooling units, plumbing, boilers, hot water heaters, and electrical.
Federal and state building laws, regulations, codes, and requirements.
Construction/safety practices and methods.

SKILLED IN:

Monitoring/Assessing performance
Judgment and decision making
Organizing and planning both long and short term projects.

ABILITY TO:

Interpret building codes, standards, and blueprints
Troubleshoot
Lift, bend, twist, and reach

SPECIAL CONDITIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to pass FBI and State background check
Must pass post offer physical
Defensive Driver Training program to be completed by all Agency personnel that drive on State business
Valid Arizona Driver’s License required during period of employment
Current Universal 608 EPA certification CFC
ASL (American Sign Language) skills if working with students/staff who are deaf or hard of hearing
Extensive work related experience in installation/repair of all the components of a facilities maintenance department.
