Senior General Counsel
Charlotte, NC Summary : This position provides assistance to the Legal Department through representing the District in an array of legal matters. This role prepares and renders legal opinions, provides formal and informal and advice and counsel, and provides research services to the Board of Education, the School Superintendent, and other school personnel, divisions, and departments within the District. Essential Duties: (These duties represent a sample and may vary by position.) Drafts documents requiring legal expertise Provides advice and counsel to District personnel Works cooperatively with and, as appropriate, directs and manages the work of other in-house and outside counsel Provides problem-solving skills to resolve actual and potential legal disputes of a legal or potentially legal nature Prepares and delivers training on legal issues to District staff. Represents the District in litigated matters in Federal and State Courts Represents District in matters involving Federal and State agencies Provides and performs other services and tasks as directed by the General Counsel Education and Experience: Juris Doctorate North Carolina Bar License Minimum of Ten Years actively engaged in the practice of law Significant experience in Employment Litigation Experience in Governmental Practice/ Agency Hearings Excellent oral and written communication skills Licensing / Certification Requirements: State of North Carolina Bar License Valid Driver’s License |
