Director, Homeland Security

**MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW*** (ITAPS) has an immediate opening for a new Director of National Security. The Director shall be responsible for organizing and directing programs and activities related to the procurement and use of information and communication technology hardware, software, services and solutions in the Department of Defense, the Intelligence Community and other related national security arenas. The primary focus of the position will be to work with ITAPS member companies to develop and advocate positions on policies, legislation and regulations governing the acquisition, adoption and implementation of innovative capabilities by the national security community.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Work to establish and maintain ITAPS as the Voice for IT in the Public Sector in the national security community and the relationships necessary to leverage that position in favor of member interests
Provide staff leadership to manage the activities of a committee of member company representatives interested in the use of IT goods and services in the national security community
Develop with member companies a set of priorities regarding the use of innovative IT products and services and their acquisition by the national security community, create strategies to achieve those priorities and execute those strategies with member companies
Identify and develop industry positions on issues, legislation, regulations and related to the procurement, management and adoption of innovative IT solutions and advocate those positions
Promote ITAPS and its’ member companies through exclusive industry forums with stakeholders and customers of IT goods and services from the national security arena

QUALIFICATIONS

Strong knowledge of the government procurement process, the Congressional legislative process, the regulatory promulgation process and the Executive branch
Experience with providers of information and communications technology sector products and services offered in the public sector
Strong knowledge of the U.S. national defense and intelligence communities
Demonstrated ability to facilitate consensus on public policy issues and ability to work with member company representatives and staff in a team environment.
Experience working in a trade association, Congress or the Executive branch and an ability to advocate on issues or positions
Strong leadership skills and a demonstrated ability to exercise personal initiative to achieve priorities
Excellent oral and written communication skills , including the ability to communicate arcane and technical issues to non-technical audiences
A Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required.  A Master’s degree is highly desirable
