The Warehouse Strategic Sourcing Manager is responsible for the acquisition of PPG’s warehousing and tolling services, including contract negotiations, to provide and store finished products for USCA SBUs.
The principal accountabilities of this position are:
Negotiate USCA contracts to support the SBUs’ warehousing needs. Contracts need to be comprehensive, commercially attractive and aligned with strategies for each of the SBUs - recognizing the special needs of each individual SBU
Negotiate 3rd party logistics provider services to support SBU requirements while mitigating costs.
Ensure proper control over of the warehousing and 3rd party service contracts.
Create a standard set of metrics to be used to measure performance.
Analyze the freight auditing processes and propose improvements to increase its accuracy and effectiveness
Conduct benchmark assessments of current vs future state warehouse and 3rd party logistics services.
Utilize Strategic Sourcing Process to analyze market
Lead implementation of new contracts alongside SBU personnel to ensure success
The major challenge of this position is to continuously develop and improve the cost effectiveness, productivity and quality of PPG’s warehousing operations while achieving customer satisfaction. The position provides data to support strategic decisions on the most favorable cost structures in a constantly challenging global marketplace.
A Bachelor’s degree within Logistics, Supply Chain or related field.
7-10 years of experience with developing organizational skills across several different job areas, or deep knowledge of a specific professional discipline within a function.
Experience managing projects.
A thorough understanding of Logistic & Warehouse concepts and terminology.
Analytical abilities and skills to evaluate alternative approaches and to recommend the most feasible solutions.
Capability to negotiate complex warehousing and 3PL service contracts.
Demonstrated ability to lead and effectively participate in teams.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to express complex concepts in audience appropriate terms.
Strong interpersonal and human resource management skills.
