Based in PPG’s Corporate Headquarters in Pittsburgh, PA, the Senior Auditor is responsible for the effective execution of a wide range of general internal audits, Sarbanes-Oxley audits, and ad hoc projects throughout the company.
Performs all tasks for completion of audits, including the planning and organizing of individual audit scope and assignments, executing fieldwork, documenting testing, communicating audit findings and recommendations, and drafting audit reports.
Interacts with Operational and Financial Management personnel of all levels across PPG’s Strategic Business Units and Corporate functions to complete assigned audits.
Prepares/reviews work papers to ensure compliance with established standards and the existence of adequate supporting documentation for the audit work completed.
Works with the external auditor for any SOX audits assigned during planning, fieldwork and reporting to ensure an efficient and cohesive approach on joint audits.
Prepares audit reports in accordance with established report writing standards.
Reviews audit findings, recommendations and corrective action with audit management and auditees.
Opines on the adequacy and effectiveness of the systems of internal control.
Conducts meetings with management upon commencement and completion of the audit to discuss scope and significant audit issues, and develops recommendations for management to improve the adequacy, effectiveness and efficiency of controls and operations.
Attend training programs and professional association meetings as considered appropriate for the benefit of self and department.
Performs other related duties and projects as assigned.
The position requires 40-50% travel to domestic and international locations.
Minimum Required Experience and Education
A Bachelors or Masters degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or related field of study.
Previous Audit experience with external audit firms or internal audit departments (3-5 years preferred)
Portuguese and/or Spanish language skills are highly desirable
Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) credentials are also desirable.
Functional and Technical Skills
Proficiency in evaluating the adequacy of controls and procedures.
Understand and apply accounting and auditing theories, procedures, and techniques.
Ability to analyze relevant information to successfully deliver audit conclusions and results.
Effective written and oral communication skills are essential, as candidate must be able to communicate audit findings and project status clearly, quickly, and persuasively.
Ability to operate independently, and self-motivated with the ability to meet tight deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy with limited supervisory oversight.
Ability to work seamlessly in a virtual environment to complete projects with team members based in various locations, both domestically and globally.
Project management skills to initiate, develop, and successfully implement project plans.
Ability to train others by sharing knowledge and experience.
Ability to work across various locations.
Excellent planning and organization skills.
Communicate and share information.
