The Regional Sales Manager is responsible for the overall sales performance within a defined major territory. They must assure that all sales representatives are meeting sales and profit goals while adhering to all PPG policies and procedures including policies on safety, ethics, EHS, financial control and human resources.
Expectations for this role include:
Providing leadership and direction of sales representatives to generate new business and maintain existing accounts in a nominated large market/region.
Works jointly with the SBU leadership and National Account Managers to establish sales goals and segment targets by market.
Works with Sales Reps to develop customer tactics and strategies.
Will take ownership in driving the new sales model and aligning sales force to meet new “growth” and “service” model. Will ensure the correct assignment of accounts and that customer contact goals are met.
Responsible for maintaining price objectives across the territory and for agreeing special deals beyond normal established price lists and terms and conditions.
Establishes performance goals and plans for each Rep and conducts regular reviews to ensure performance standards are being met.
Works within an established budget.
May assume account manager responsibilities for special customer accounts within their area of responsibility.
Coordinates the relationship between customers, upper PPG management, Credit and other PPG functions as needed.
Occasionally assists in the resolution of customer issues with PPG stores, manufacturing and supply chain
Recruits, develops, and motivates sales staff
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience.
Must have 2 to 5 years equivalent management experience - sales preferred.
Must possess a high level of leadership acumen and the ability to think strategically and influence decisions at a high level.
Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
Customer service experience with the proven ability to resolve customer complaints.
Broad knowledge of the application and use of paint and sundries preferred.
While not required, the ability to relocate will enhance future career advancement opportunities.
Must possess a valid Driver's License.
Availability to work and travel locally within assigned market up to 75% of time
