QUALITY LAB SPECIALIST
Under general direction, position will conduct laboratory testing. This position may assist in test method development, test method validation, and lab start-up activities. Position will support Supplier Management system by tracking and following up with supplier files and evaluations. Performs related work and other duties as required.
Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions
Maintain compliance with stated objectives, specifications, relevant standards, safety and regulatory requirements and procedures.
Coordinate daily lab management, including: control, planning and organization, purchasing, supplies, and maintenance.
Complete all Out of Spec (OOS) investigations of Laboratory data.
Update procedures and documents pertaining to the lab process.
Responsible for the management and/or performance of stability testing in support of shelf-life studies, as required.
Perform daily data analysis and tracking.
Manage performance of Lab equipment as needed.
Update supplier files, and track evaluations of new and current suppliers.
Draft Quality Agreements with suppliers.
Complete required training to serve as back-up for Document Control Specialist, as needed.
Perform testing and analysis activities in support of R&D and process improvement efforts.
Maintain clean and safe working environment in compliance with divisional/company policies, statutory and regulatory requirements.
Utilize personal protective clothing and equipment to ensure personal safety, the safety of others, and the protection of products and materials.
Communicate effectively with production, quality, material, and R&D personnel.
All other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Experience with USP Monograph testing, USP standards and ASTM preferred.
Ability to document results in a clear and concise manner.
Ability to solve practical problems.
Superior organizational skills and attention to detail.
Fundamental understanding of FDA, GMP and GLP requirements.
Ability to work independently, as well as within a team.
Ability to perform basic arithmetic computations.
Ability to read and understand relevant policies and procedures.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or GED required.
Associates Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Science, Biology, Chemistry or Microbiology preferred.
Three to five years of previous labratory experience preferred.
