Procurement Value Engineer, Electrical - Bensheim, Germany
As Procurement Value Engineer, you’ll play an essential role in leading or collaborating on electrical engineering projects that support critical Supply Chain strategies, including cost reduction, supplier risk reduction, movement to multi-sourcing, use of commercial-off-the-shelf parts, and design-to-value. You’ll partner closely with Direct Material Category Management teams, Research and Development, Product Owners and Product Marketing teams to drive value across our portfolio. Finally, you’ll identify and drive cost savings through identification of cost savings opportunities through qualification of alternate sources, products, material/design/specification changes.
Support key strategic projects for risk reduction through creating technical design specifications and drawings, supporting supplier selection through technical discussions with suppliers, and design verification and testing methodologies for pilot and production.
Work with Category Management, Research and Development and Manufacturing to identify and implement design cost reduction ideas, create technical specifications / drawings and work with suppliers to ensure designs are well-executed and testable at the site
Support the identification and qualification of new suppliers
Facilitates design-to-value discussions and potential design changes
Evaluate supplier samples to meet specifications, working with Quality Assurance / Regulatory Assurance
Analyze and solve problems pertaining to design and manufacturing processes and update specifications at suppliers
Facilitates design-to-cost discussions for New Product Introduction Projects or Outsourcing Projects; recommends alternative/already existing parts
Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or similar; Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or similar would be plus
5 years of hand-on professional experience in primarily Medical Device design and manufacturing
Experience with building design specifications and drawings
Experience with project management,
Experience with quality management and quality systems, preferably in the medical device industry (ISO 9001, 13485, FDA requirements, audit planning and execution, FMEA, 8D, etc.)
Proficient in MS office applications; strategic sourcing application software experience preferred
Excellent managerial skills; ability to ensure timely and appropriate generation, collection, distribution, and communication of metrics and /or project progress and status information to project stakeholders
Proven success working leading multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
Excellent communication and presentation skills in English (C1); German (B2 min.) would be a plus
