Director and Associate General Counsel (Augmented and Virtual Reality)


Job Description

Inside Facebook, the AR/VR organization is working on defining the next generation of computing platforms. Our team is creating hardware and software products core to virtual reality and augmented reality. Facebook seeks an experienced, highly motivated attorney to serve as Director and Associate General Counsel on the AR/VR Legal team. In this role, you will drive our legal strategy for the suite of AR/VR consumer hardware devices and platform products we are building.

You will serve as the primary legal partner to AR/VR executives, and work closely with the business leads in related functions at Facebook including product managers, engineers, and designers. You will be responsible for managing a team of attorneys and legal professionals.

The ideal candidate for this role is able to work proactively, collaboratively, and is able to switch easily between detailed work and high-level strategic thinking.

You should be passionate about the services we provide and the people that we serve.

The role is located at our headquarters in Menlo Park, California (other locations will be considered case by case).

Required Skills:

Drive legal strategy for AR/VR consumer hardware devices and platform software
Build and manage a team of experienced attorneys and legal professionals
Work cross-functionally with Facebook legal teams
Oversee outside counsel relationships
Provide legal support to teams developing innovative new technologies and contexts

Minimum Qualifications:

J.D. with membership in at least one state bar
12 years of legal experience, from a law firm or in-house

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working with and leading cross-functional teams
Experience working on international consumer hardware matters
Managerial experience
Team player who enjoys building relationships and working with others
