Responsible for the accurate and timely completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual book close cycles for a complex accounting operation.
Responsible for the accurate production of all financial reports within a complex accounting operation, ensuring compliance with all accounting regulations.
Oversee the research of all relevant accounting policy issues and the development of corresponding new processes, ensuring issues are communicated appropriately to senior management.
Responsible for the establishment, maintenance, and continuous improvement of an internal control framework that ensures accurate, timely and compliant financial reporting.
Act as a financial advisor to strategic business units and other departments, and apply strategic vision to make recommendations for accounting treatment that improves business outcomes.
Work to understand the interdependencies of financial systems, prioritize and implement enhancements, and plan appropriately for changes to ensure accuracy in accounting.
Apply vision and insight to recognize emerging trends and organizational changes and set strategic direction for the work unit.
Foster an environment of continuous improvement, and initiate and lead cross-functional projects to improve efficiency or effectiveness.
Support staff development through frequent one-on-one guidance meetings. Travel required up to 10%.
The position requires a Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Accounting, or a related field, PLUS ten (10) years of post-baccalaureate work experience in the job offered, or a related occupation. The position requires ten (10) years of experience with US GAAP, Statutory Accounting and IFRS. The position also requires two (2) years of experience with each of the following: public accounting; working in the insurance, asset management, and financial service industries; accounting in the oil and gas industry; derivatives and hedging accounting; foreign exchange and consolidation accounting; development and delivery of technical accounting training presentations; and complex accounting principles, including other-than-temporary impairments, fair value of financial instruments, VIE and consolidation issues and general investment accounting. CPA or Chartered Accountant designation required. Travel required up to 10%.
