Review and development of standard costs for the current year via interaction with materials management and manufacturing engineers
Review standard costs on a periodic basis to ensure validity and accuracy
Ensure that the operations team is properly recording and reporting ERP production data including item master, and related transactions.
Prepare monthly cost and financial journal entries as required
Analyze, interpret, report and post monthly manufacturing variances to the ledger including spend and absorption
Analyze and report monthly purchase price variance
Prepare monthly reconciliation of perpetual inventory, GRNI and other Supply Chain designated accounts to general ledger balances
Prepare various monthly financial and cost schedules for management review
Conduct the annual physical inventory (including tag control, resolving discrepancies, arranging test counts, producing and reconciling results, and accommodating internal/external auditor requests)
Conduct, assist and review the results of periodic cycle counts of inventory
Assist in the preparation for periodic or annual Corporate and external audits
Assist in the proper maintenance, safe guarding, and accounting of the company’s assets including PP&E and the inventory in the plant.
Collaborate with Product Group and review the assignment of Global Product Hierarchy and Global Item Number coding to ensure accurate reporting on a global level.
Review, calculate and record E&O reserve. Also provide guidance and support in the reduction of E&O.
Understand and participate in completion of SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) compliance requirements and assist internal and external auditors by providing detailed explanatory information and documents as required
Provide appropriate management with accurate and reliable data to allow for cost control and inventory management decision making.
Working knowledge of Spreadsheet Server and/or Atlas to obtain Financial information and develop reports from ERP system
Participate and assist manufacturing operations in various analysis and review including but not limited to manufacturing reporting and efficiency improvement projects
Identifies cost reduction opportunities and engages with members of management on implementation methods
Remains current on policies and procedures including Corporate Finance Accounting Manual (CFAM), Sarbanes and Oxley (SOX), US GAAP, and DS best practices and ensures site compliance
May perform other duties requested by his/her supervisor
Skills and Experience
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
MBA, CPA or CMA desirable but not necessary
Years and Type of Experience:
Three to Five years in cost accounting, and or related experience in a manufacturing environment.
Key Required Skills, Knowledge and Capabilities:
In-depth understanding of costing methodologies and volume & spend variance analysis
Production and Processing – Operational knowledge of inputs, outputs, raw material, labor, waste, quality control and techniques for maximizing the manufacture and distribution of good with accurate costs
Must display interpersonal skills and ability to interact with management, co-workers and others in a professional and tactful manner.
Firm knowledge of policies and practices involved in financial management, accounting principles/procedures, and capital project evaluation.
Knowledge of principles and practices involved in the implementation of audit standards with heavy emphasis on SOX and internal controls.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Teamwork, Flexibility, and ability to multi-task
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from individuals and / or groups.
Must have strong skills in Microsoft Office-Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Hyperion suite tools-Essbase, DSIPLAN, HFM, Excel SmartView, Essebase cubes
Strong technical knowledge specific to standard product costing, and manufacturing variances within ERP systems such as Microsoft Dynamics, BPCS, SAP, or Oracle.
