Control and Optimization Intern

More than half the population of the world are not yet connected to the Internet, and a large portion of those connected experiences very slow Internet speed. The Facebook Connectivity team is creating and deploying new products and technologies to solve these unconnected and under-connected problems and aimed at bringing everyone on the planet to the Internet. The global cross-functional teams are constantly iterating and working together with customers and operators to connect people and communities around the world.
We are looking for Control and Optimization intern with a solid background in control, machine learning, numerical optimization, and data analytics and with strong software engineering skills. This is an internship position based in our Northridge, CA office.
Develop scalable models and algorithms
Develop automated anomaly detection and prediction system
Perform system modeling and simulation
Store and retrieve key data set and build simple web-based UI and dashboard
Collect, suggest, and synthesize requirements and contribute to effective feature roadmap
Apply expert coding skills to develop the computation engine in partnership with other engineers and teams
Expecting graduates with BS or MS in Engineering, Computer Science, or related quantitative field
Fundamental knowledge in numerical computational algorithms (machine learning, system identification, optimization, control, data analytics)
Strong problem solving skills
Strong software development skills in Python, SQL, Matlab, and C/C
Ability to obtain and maintain work authorization in the country of employment in 2019
Must be currently enrolled in a full-time degree program and returning to the program after the completion of the internship/co-op
