Job Description
Reporting to Exterran ITO Proposals Manager, the Water Applications Engineer is responsible to design and propose water treatment plants/equipment to meet Water Solutions clients produced water handling requirements. The Water Application Engineer will be responsible for providing techno-commercial proposals to the client based on enquiry specifications and providing technical support to the client during the bid submission stage. Duties are as follows but not limited to:
Manage all Request for Proposal (RFP)/client queries in Water Solutions RFQ pipeline
Log technical details from client enquiry into the RFQ data base
Work directly with customers and sales team to define proposals to meet customer specifications and demands
Support proposal/commercial managers across geographical regions to respond to customer requests for information and other proposal post-submission activities including presentations, internal and external debriefs, and other proposal close-out activities as needed
Review customer request for proposal (RFP) and specifications to produce technical compliance statements against defined requirements; calling upon subject matter experts to supplement his/her own knowledge
Conduct internal RFP Review, securing necessary resources to complete bid package.
Generate bid/no bid recommendation
Review of enquiry specifications and standards; make list of exceptions
Preliminary review of contract requirements; make list of exceptions
Establish committed timelines and communication with internal and external clients
Make conceptual design, technology selection and design calculations
Prepare techno commercial proposals
Development of PFD, P&ID and GAs
Undertake site visits if required to gather technical information for the proposal
Consolidate regional market competitive information; Exterran bid win/loss metrics
Attend client meetings and engage in technical discussions
Follow internal procedures and utilize estimating and modeling tools
Continual improvement efforts to streamline procedures
Undertake research work when required
Support other engineering related work when required
Adept at writing technical reports and scopes of work
Excellent analytical skills
Excellent writing and communications skills; able to represent the company in
Client and Supplier meetings
Proficient with MS Office software and various engineering software programs
Well versed with P&IDs, GA’s and PFDs
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering
Minimum 5 to 10 years relevant Process or Applications Engineering experience
Produced Water Experience is required
Experience with membrane technology is desirable
A strong and broad knowledge of engineering; well versed with inter-discipline workflow
Experience in the Oil and Gas industry, preferably with design and manufacture of processing equipment / units
Solid understanding of process piping applications including P&ID drawings
General knowledge of pumps and other process equipment
Understanding of procurement processes
PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS (generally describe the ideal candidate)
Highly comfortable in a demanding – dynamic environment
Results Oriented
Excellent communicator
Excels in a Team Environment
Able to multi-task across projects
Be available for International travel including site visits
Proactively identifies and recommends areas for process improvement within the organization
