Bullies and Your Career
By: Harrison Barnes

Employment Research Institute's Chief Executive Officer, A. Harrison Barnes, in a webinar discussed how your ability to succeed will, in most cases, relate to your ability to defend yourself against bullies.

There are two types of people in the world – the bullies and the bullied. Bullies are those who will use any method at their disposal to exert control over others. Bullying is not only something which happens with children but also takes place in the work place. They threaten, they leave others out of activities, they start rumors, they damage peoples’ things, call others names, and even ignore them. What bullies are doing here is that they throw people out of balance and establish dominance and superiority over another person. The important thing is that you need to realize that someone is bullying you and choose not to play the game.

Harrison believes that a person can never succeed in the long run by bullying others. Bullies are never liked by anyone because they upset many people, so much so, that others wish to knock them down at any cost. Bullies try hard to intimidate you and keep you away from doing the things you enjoy and living the life you dream. You need to defend yourself against bullies and make sure they are not successful in their efforts. You are a valuable individual with special talents. Do not ever allow bullies to ruin your day, your career and your life in the long run.
