A consulting manager manages a team of consultants and is generally responsible for all the consulting activities going on in a given department. Specific duties may include meeting VIP clients to provide special help as required; analyzing clients\' business activities when requested by team members; keeping up to date on the best practices and technology in the relevant industry; mentoring lower level consultants; and suggesting ways to improve clients\' businesses. The consulting manager is also responsible for establishing and maintaining a rapport with various ace consultants in the given industry and seeking help on a temporary/project basis. Among the most frequently encountered consulting manager positions are solutions consulting manager, technical consulting manager, business consulting manager, senior consultant, consulting director, senior consulting manager, supply chain consulting manager, consulting project manager, tax consulting manager, audit and risk consulting manager, and sales consulting manager.
Agencies which recruit the aforementioned consulting managers are consulting companies, business analysis agencies, and the like. An applicant with an MBA degree or more advanced degree in business administration, business process reengineering, SAP, ERP, accounting, or the like from an internationally recognized institution may receive special preference. Every consulting manager position requires strong business acumen and expertise in the given area of operation.
