The Structures / Mechanical Engineer will work closely with the

. The successful candidate will have responsibility for multiple engineering design tasks for one or more aircraft completion programs currently underway including the Challenger 605, Challenger 850, Global 5000, the Global XRS
or the Airbus programs
. The Structures / Mechanical Engineer
is
responsible for completing each design task within the allotted hours and within the prescribed time frame. He or she will coordinate with the assigned stress engineer (and DER as required) from the preliminary design phase through design approval to ensure the design meets current FAA regulations. The primary goal for the Structures / Mechanical Engineer is to develop type design data using sound engineering practices that is first of all compliant, but is also producible, maintainable, and accessible.
Job Summary:
Develop type design data for aircraft interior, avionics and systems installations, assemblies and components in accordance with the Midcoast Design & Drafting Manual.
Ensure type design is compliant with applicable FAA regulations.
Coordinate with assigned stress engineer (and DER as required) from the preliminary sizing to design approval to ensure type design data is compliant with applicable parts of the Federal Aviation Regulations.
Resolves difficult design problems to ensure production efficiency,
producibility
, accessibility, and maintainability.
Responsible to complete assigned task within allotted hours and within prescribed time frame.
Mentors Associate Engineers.
May check other engineer's designs and drawings.
Reviews production and engineering schedules, engineering specifications, orders, and related information to maintain current knowledge of manufacturing methods, procedures, and activities in assigned area.
Confers with quality assurance, material, manufacturing, and other department personnel to provide technical support as required to support type design data.
Investigates reports of defective, damaged, or malfunctioning parts, assemblies, equipment, or systems to determine nature and scope of problem.
Consults with project engineers to obtain specialized information and direction to ensure engineering configuration control is maintained.
Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
B.S. in Aeronautical engineering or Mechanical Engineering program at an accredited university or equivalent experience.
Proficient with Microsoft office suite, AutoCAD 2000 or later and/or SolidWorks 2005 or later.
2 years aircraft completion experience minimum.
Demonstrate project management skills and organizational skills.
Demonstrate understanding of basic static analysis.
Demonstrate knowledge of the Federal Aviation Regulations, Part 21, 23 & 25.
