Position Description:
Are you an early adopter of technology? Have you ever dreamt of bringing the insurance process up to contemporary technology standards? Have you ever thought about how much more you could do with the right underwriting technology to help you? If you answered yes to these questions then you should continue reading about this exciting opportunity for a technology loving underwriter to design and implement an agile and versatile digital environment that can be used to augment underwriting decision making, with customized decision support, and new streamlined processes.
What you will do…
In this project-based role you will participate on a team preparing for the deployment of the Workers Compensation product for our Middle Market technology enabled platform, throughout the US. You will use your experience with policy forms and ISO to design our product line by line. Identify, compile and provide product specifications to our technical teams, including coverage forms, attachment logic and process details. The person will also prepare materials for, and support the state filings process.
Position Requirements:
A true self-starter that quickly and independently assesses and understands our business objectives and becomes a trusted and integral part of the team. A casual communicator with colleagues at all levels that is fundamentally supported by a genuine sensitivity and commitment to the organization's development needs. Ability to present complex technical information in a clear, confident and concise manner to a variety of audiences, including non-technical individuals. Someone that has an entrepreneurial "own the outcome" mindset, applied at scale and working with others.
We value the ability to quickly gain trust, negotiate business objectives, have constructive debate, and work directly with a broad group of senior executives, including partnering with peer leaders, business units, and the broader community. Our organization moves quickly and keeping up is a requirement, so be a solid decision-maker with an outstanding eye for business that hits the sweet-spot of being strategic and "hands-on".
Lastly, we are looking for an organizational role model. Someone that positively impacts behavior of others and encourages them to achieve high performance and personal happiness through a sense of purpose and spirit of collaboration. Someone that has an entrepreneurial "own the outcome" mindset, applied at scale and working with others.
The ideal candidate will have a 4 year college degree (graduate degree is a plus) with a minimum of 5 - 7 years’ experience in commercial lines insurance, with at least 5 years of dedicated experience in Middle Market Workers Compensation underwriting and product work. We need people with a strong foundational understanding of Workers Compensation, including specific experience in key states, (CA, TX, FL, NY, etc.) and who want to deploy that knowledge through contemporary technology systems. We would like to see demonstrated experience with translating insurance products and underwriting into technology platforms. Experience with evaluating and streamlining business processes is a plus. And we need people who can comfortably navigate among market, underwriting and technical considerations.
