Parent Educator Part

We have an immediate, part-time (30 hours per week) position open for an outgoing, compassionate parent to work in our Family Resource Center. The Parent Educator will work under the direct supervision of the Outpatient Services Coordinator as part of the Early Intervention and Community Wellness Division team. The Parent Educator shall have personal experience navigating community resources as well as personal experience with children in mental health services.
Duties and Responsibilities:
As a member of the Family Resource Center staff team, the Parent Educator will be responsible for initiating the creation and coordination of workshops and community outreach to directly serve clients, as well as gather various types of data and then create reports that track the Center’s various activities. Parent Educators establish and present workshops for parents, provide case management, assist clients with job applications, publicize workshops to include performing advocacy, and update the resource center’s library. The Parent Educator will act as a community resource and will build, as well as maintain, community relationships with parents and caregivers, as well as community partners. Parent Educators will timely prepare and track written data reports on several data points: number of families served by workshops, and number of case management services, as well as reporting on survey data completed by families along with other items. Other duties will be assigned.
Skills and Requirements
Parent Educators shall have experience navigating mental health services for children and families, and demonstrate a strong ability to communicate in a team and mobilize and motivate people. A demonstrated knowledge and experience with working with parents of children aged 0-5, including experience with children involved in mental health services. The successful applicant possesses excellent written and verbal communication, organization, interpersonal and computer skills that include Microsoft Office (Word and Excel preferable) to prepare reports and track data. Fluent English speaking and writing ability is required; bilingual Spanish speaking is preferred. TB and fingerprint clearance requirements must also be met, per Clinic policy. Own, reliable transportation required, as is a valid CA driver license and driving record insurable by the Clinic at hire and throughout employment.
Part-time, 30 hours per week, on a to-be-arranged schedule per the Family Resource Center’s hours of operation. This position is placed on the Non-Management Salary Plan Non-Exempt I, starting at $ 10.47 per hour.
