Marine Civil/ Structural Engineer

The Shaw Group provides premier engineering, design, construction, and maintenance services to government and private-sector clients in a wide array of industries, including the energy, environmental, infrastructure, and emergency response markets.

Summary:
-Performs a variety of engineering work in the initial planning and design phases of projects.
-Use creativity and objectivity to perform studies and technical activities to arrive at the most cost effective, reliable technical solution.
-May also support procurement and construction phases or projects with engineering knowledge and experience.
-Performs other duties as required.

Responsibilities:
-Design and analysis of shoreline structures such as piers and bulkheads, and related upland civil structures.
-Preparation of contract drawings and specifications, feasibility studies and environmental permit applications.
-Occasional field inspection.
-Perform detailed technical analysis of complex project issues.
-Monitor applicable regulatory requirements and stays abreast of regulatory trends.
- Work activities include collection and interpretation of engineering data, development of project design basis, development of specifications, and performance of detailed engineering.
-Ensures conformance to applicable engineering codes and standards as well as company policies and procedures.

Qualifications/Competencies/Experience:
-Bachelor or Masters Degree in Civil Engineering with 8-12 years of relevant experience.
-Candidate must be willing to work as a member of a project team, as well as on an independent basis. -Must have strong communication, interpersonal, technical, and computer skills.
-Coursework and experience in mooring and berthing structures, geotechnical, concrete design and sheet piling design are preferable.
-Competent at design and analysis of civil structures such as anchored bulkheads, concrete foundations, pile-supported piers, wharves and other waterfront structures.
-Fluent with STAAD, SAP, RISA, or similar analytical software
-Able to prepare contract documents, conduct feasibility studies and site investigations.
-Able to work relatively independently and able to supervise and mentor lower level engineering staff
-Competent at report writing and should possess good writing skills
