Human Resources - Vice President This position, under the direction of the President, ensures the strategic leadership and delivery of high quality human resources policies, programs and services to the **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW*** companies. These programs include all core areas of human resources including: staffing and retention employee relations benefits and compensation performance management and professional development employment polices, practices and procedures compliance and recordkeeping In this position, the incumbent must successfully provide pro-active strategic leadership directly linked to Company objectives in all facets of HR. All tasks and functions performed by this position will be carried out in a means consistent with the Company’s policies and procedures and quality standards. STAFFING AND RETENTION Recruit, source, pre-screen, schedule, and interview qualified candidates for positions as determined by the Company. Develop creative, efficient and cost effective methods to secure qualified candidates. Communicate with Hiring Managers on a regular basis on status of existing vacancies. Maintain continued compliance with all applicable state and federal employment regulations. Maintain, measure and evaluate effectiveness of recruitment methods and provide data to management. Develop strategies to brand/market the company to potential qualified applicants within the marketplace. Develop strategy to become the Employer of Choice in this marketplace. Conduct all necessary background checks on viable candidates, including previous employment, professional credentials/licenses and references. Extend employment offers and conduct negotiations as necessary. Notify candidates if not selected for hire. Direct the Employee Referral Program and provide data to Executive Leadership Team. Develop and manage the internal job posting process to ensure fair and consistent approach to promotions and transfers. Maintain and enhance Employment Opportunities Section on Company website. Conduct orientation for new employees. Manage requests for temporary workers and ensure department needs and expectations are met with appropriate personnel. EMPLOYEE RELATIONS Keep in touch with the workforce; anticipate employee reaction and impact of business decisions. Develop action plan to address employee concerns and provide information to management. Obtain employee feedback on a regular basis to gauge morale and concerns, especially critical during times of organizational change or growth. Ensure effective communication channels exist and are maintained throughout all levels within the Company. Ensure compliance with all applicable EEO regulations and employment policies. Develop HR open door policy for employees to resolve complaints, disputes, or any other work-related matters. Coach and counsel employees as needed on work related matters. Manage Employee Appreciation Programs (birthday, anniversary, office events, etc.) Consider the needs of telecommuting staff in all HR functions to enhance inclusiveness with in-office staff. Maintain strict confidentiality and discretion on all HR matters. Conduct exit interviews and provide data to management. Serve as a resource to first line management and Executive Leadership Team on any issue and develop solutions to improve work relationships, build morale and increase productivity and retention. Manage and resolve employee relations issues. COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS Direct all compensation and benefits programs and ensure alignment with organizational strategic goals, objectives and values. Ensure competitiveness of benefits and compensation programs within current marketplace to attract, motivate and retain employees. Develop HR network of contacts in related industry to benchmark benefits and compensation data. Respond to employee questions and concerns pertaining to benefits. Escalate concerns to benefits broker as needed to resolve issues. Partner with benefits broker to ensure cost effective benefits are offered and that an effective communication strategy exists for employees. Manage annual open enrollment process. Update and ensure staff access to online HR portal. Track and analyze the Company’s year to date healthcare and wellness statistics. Serve as payroll liaison for new hires, terms, job status changes, salary changes, benefit deductions and any other related payroll data. Provide this information to payroll to coincide with payroll processing deadlines. Ensure accuracy of monthly billing for all benefits related invoices including health, dental, vision, life, std/ltd, AFLCAC, etc. PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT Assess staff training needs and develop action plan to address which may include developing in-house training or contracting with outside vendor to conduct training. Ensure an effective performance management program exists and is aligned to business results and growth. Direct annual performance process for all staff to ensure timely and accurate completion of reviews. Provide training to supervisors on how to conduct a performance review. Serve as a resource to management on coaching and counseling employees. Develop and update employee job descriptions with input from supervisor. POLICIES, PRACTICES AND PROCEDURES Ensure policies and procedures are implemented fairly and consistently as well as comply with all EEO, state and federal regulations. Update Employee Manual as needed. Communicate policy changes to all employees. COMPLIANCE AND RECORDKEEPING Maintain employee personnel files in accordance with applicable state and federal regulations. Ensure file confidentiality is maintained. Ensure Company compliance with all applicable regulations including labor law posters, I-9 regulations and other employment related regulations. Conduct periodic internal audits to ensure compliance. Ensure employee handbook is kept current and reviewed by attorney on a regular basis. REQUIREMENTS 12-15 years of progressively responsible human resources generalist experience in all key areas of human resources. Demonstrated ability to successfully plan strategically for HR function and ensure alignment with organizational objectives. Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing. Demonstrated superior internal customer service skills. Demonstrated skill in conflict resolution, relationship building and problem solving. Excellent organizational, time management and project management skills. Flexibility to adapt to different business expectations, challenges and goals. Results orientated mindset. Must be able to successfully communicate with top level management. Ability to recommend effective solutions to employee-related problems and issues by using judgment that is consistent with Company policies, practices and standards. Excellent time management skills, attention to detail, and ability to multi-task and work well under pressure, despite numerous interruptions and shifting priorities. Demonstrated critical thinking and analytical skills. Previous experience in home care or related industry greatly desirable is a plus. Working knowledge of federal, state and local employment regulations. Training in mediation or conflict resolution a plus. Related BS/BA Degree required. Graduate work desirable.
