High School Diploma or equivalent

Pharmacy technician diploma or enrolled in a pharmacy technician program
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING
Required:
• Pharmacy technician certification through PTCB prior to hire.
• Registered with the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy within 30 days of hire.

Preferred:
Pharmacy technician experience is preferred and hospital pharmacy technician experience is highly preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Must satisfactorily complete required testing: basic mathematics competency annually, aseptic technique [if required], maintain PTCB certification, medication history-taking competency [if required])
Required:
• Communication skills, demonstrate the ability to read and speak English
• Ability to demonstrate visual, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Computer skills (word processing or data entry).
• Ability to perform repetitive motions including bending, twisting, stooping, pushing and pulling. Must be able to lift 10 pounds and may require lifting up to 40 pounds to counter height of 3-4 feet five times daily. Ability to push rolling carts weighing 300 pounds with handles at 3.5-4 foot level daily. Ability to stand for long periods of time and the ability to climb one to two flights of stairs as needed. Specific vision abilities including color vision, close vision, depth perception, and ability to focus. Physical job demands may be subject to possible modifications to reasonably accommodate individuals with disabilities.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Medium Work:
•Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally (up to 1/3 of the time), and/or; 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently (1/3 to 2/3 of the time), and/or; greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly (2/3 or more of the time) to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
•Respirator Fit Testing - Required
HEARING/VISION:
•Hear and differentiate low volume sounds in order to make judgments regarding actions needed
•Hear alarm bells, verbal conversations, telephone voices and normal volume sounds
•Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less)
•Distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more)
•Depth perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships)
•Color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors)

Job Description:
JOB SUMMARY:
This position is accountable to work under the supervision of a registered pharmacist and assist in the various activities of the pharmacy department in order to provide quality safe patient care in a designated setting. Candidates have the ability to foster a Top-Tier Employee Engagement Culture throughout Cone Health.
MAJOR WORK ACTIVITIES:
Assists in orientation and training of new employees/students. 20 %
Maintains workflow, including inventory and triaging phone calls. 20 %
Operates Pharmacy systems technology and automation. 20 %
Prepares, distributes and disposes of medications in compliance with current standards of practice under the direct supervision of a licensed Pharmacist. 20 %
Records patient medication histories. 20 %
