Company History: Chrysler was founded in June, 1925 by Walter Chrysler. It encountered some financial trouble during the late 1970s when it sought out a Congressional bailout. All of its loans were paid out during the early 1980s due to the success it enjoyed through its minivans as well as its range of fuel efficient K-cars.

In 1987, the company bought American Motors. However, the consolidation led to a financial crisis due to which the company had to be restructured. During the early 90s, under the leadership of Bob Lutz, the product guru, the company enjoyed a period of creativity. During those few years, it managed to launch the Plymouth Prowler and Dodge Viper sports cars which were very well received due to their excellent design, providing the company with financial success.




Chrysler continued on its path of growth. By 1998, the company was a part of DaimlerChrysler, a German company, now known as Daimler AG. The next 8 years were spent as a part of the group. However, due to the pressure from the shareholders and the inconsistent financial results pressured Daimler to find a buyer for the company in 2007. The company was then sold to Cerberus Capital Management.
